Workforce Development
Connecting People to Sustainable Work, Economic Wellbeing and Greater Independence
Fedcap is a recognised leader in workforce development, helping people facing barriers to employment build the skills, confidence and support they need to find meaningful work, achieve greater economic mobility and improve their long-term wellbeing.
For more than seven years, we have worked with national government and local authorities across the UK to deliver high-quality employment support that respond to the needs of individual communities. We combine the scale, expertise and performance discipline needed to deliver major public programmes with the local knowledge and partnerships needed to make them work for people.

60,000+ people supported into sustainable employment
Behind every statistic is someone moving towards greater independence, stability and opportunity.
National Expertise. Local Solutions.
Successful workforce programmes cannot be one-size-fits-all.
Labour markets are local. Employer needs are local. And the barriers people face are often shaped by the communities in which they live.
Fedcap works alongside national government, local authorities, employers and community organisations to design and deliver interventions that reflect those realities.
We bring proven approaches and national capability, then adapt them around local needs, opportunities and services.
This combination allows us to deliver at scale without losing sight of the people within their communities.

Work Is About More Than a Job
We believe employment can be one of the most powerful pathways to greater independence and opportunity.
But the path into work is different for everyone. Health challenges, disability, skills gaps, caring responsibilities, long periods out of work and other circumstances can make it harder for people to participate fully in the labour market.
That is why our work starts with the individual.
We take the time to understand what is standing in the way, build on each person’s strengths and connect them to the right combination of employment, skills, health and community support.
The goal is not simply to help someone find a job. It is to help them build a stronger and more sustainable future.
Our Approach in Action
Our programmes demonstrate how this approach works across different communities and for people facing different barriers.

Restart Scheme
Through the UK Government’s Restart Scheme, we support people who have experienced long-term unemployment to overcome barriers, reconnect with opportunity and move towards sustainable employment.
Our approach combines personalised employment support with strong employer relationships and connections to services that can address wider challenges affecting an individual's ability to work.

Connect to Work Surrey
Delivering the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) on behalf of Surrey County Council. Connect to Work brings employment support closer to Surrey residents.
Working with local partners, we help people facing significant barriers to employment access personalised support designed around their circumstances, strengths and aspirations.
The programme demonstrates our ability to combine national expertise with locally led delivery.

Inspiring Futures Supported Employment and Training Services
In partnership with Reading Borough Council, Inspiring Futures focuses on creating pathways to opportunity for people with autism and/or learning disabilities who need more intensive or tailored support.
By bringing together employment, skills and wider community services, we help individuals build confidence, develop their capabilities and take meaningful steps towards work and greater independence.

Our Work in Scotland
Fedcap has delivered employment support in Scotland for more than seven years, building deep relationships with communities, employers and public-sector partners.
Our experience demonstrates the importance of understanding local labour markets and ensuring that employment support reflects the needs of the people and places it is designed to serve.

Young Voices. Real Change. Better Futures.
By listening to their lived experiences, we've identified barriers such as limited work experience, low career awareness and social anxiety, then turned those insights into action through our Youth Advisory Board.
The result? Practical support that works, including workplace experience, mentoring from trusted adults and The Ladder - an eight week, hands-on group activity that strengthens confidence, trust and teamwork, equipping young people with the skills and motivation to take their next step.

From First Conversation to Lasting Employment
Our employment services are built around the individual. We combine personalised support, strong employer relationships and knowledge of local labour markets to help people overcome barriers, move into the right job and progress once they are there.
Our approach follows five stages

Engage
We make our services accessible and welcoming, using different approaches to reach people and ensure they understand the support available to them. The first step is building trust, understanding individual circumstances and helping each person make an informed choice about their next step.
Understand
Through vocational profiling and one-to-one support, we identify each person's strengths, aspirations, skills, experience and barriers to employment. Together, we develop an action plan tailored to the individual and focused on achievable steps towards work.
Connect
We connect people to the support they need to move forward. Depending on the individual, this can include skills development, health and wellbeing support, confidence building, help addressing practical barriers and connections to specialist community services. At the same time, our teams work directly with local employers to understand where opportunities exist and what skills they need.
We bring people and employers together. Using our understanding of the individual and the local labour market, we identify roles that offer the strongest possible match between a person's abilities, ambitions and circumstances and an employer’s needs. We also work with employers to support effective recruitment, workplace adjustments and practices that enable people facing barriers to succeed.
Our support does not end when someone starts work. We continue working with both the employee and employer to help overcome challenges, sustain employment and identify opportunities for career development and progression. Because the goal is not simply getting someone into a job. It is helping them build greater independence, economic mobility and long-term wellbeing.
