Beryl, 59, from Aldershot, was referred to Fedcap and the Restart Scheme to build her confidence and find suitable employment. Unfortunately, her mental health had suffered because of several family bereavements, which led to her losing her previous job. She was unemployed for over a year and had not been successful with job applications which affected her confidence.Beryl’s main barrier was her perceived lack of confidence and she felt her age was against her, particularly in terms of her physical fitness. In Beryl’s words, Fedcap went the extra mile for her, building her confidence and showing her that she can achieve her goals. Beryl always felt at ease in the welcoming Guildford office and engaged well in meetings and workshops. From the outset, the Fedcap team worked with Beryl to build up her confidence after being unemployed for over a year. Our Guildford office has a fantastic relationship with court order enforcement and debt recovery service Marston Holdings, with the firm taking on 15 of our customers in recent months. After noting Beryl had previous experience in this area, we secured a successful interview for Beryl to take up a role as a civil enforcement officer..We were able to fund clothing for work and pay for travel to and from her new job for the first four weeks, which Beryl really appreciated. Beryl is happy in her new role and said: “I feel more independent like I’m getting back on my feet again. If it wasn’t for the team, I wouldn’t be in a job. “To anyone who is unemployed – never give up. Fedcap are here to help people and support them to move forward and build their life and reach their goals and dreams.”
